Vedette is a 43-year-old woman from Haiti. She is one of seven children, and she lives with her youngest brother. Vedette enjoys her work as a security agent. In her free time, she loves to cook.
At the end of 2014, Vedette noticed she developed a lump in her breast. At first, it was misdiagnosed as fat, but she was later diagnosed with a malignant breast tumor. In October of 2016, she began chemotherapy treatment.
Referred to our medical partner’s care center, St. Luc Family Hospital, Vedette opted for a mastectomy with reconstruction surgery to ensure her stable health. On April 13, Vedette will undergo surgery at St. Luc Family Hospital. Our medical partner, Innovating Health International, is asking for $1,285 to cover the cost of her care.
After surgery, Vedette hopes to have her health fully intact and regain her independence.
