Rin is a 76-year-old farmer from Cambodia. She has three daughters and nine grandchildren. Her husband passed away nearly 20 years ago, and now she lives with her middle daughter. She is mostly retired now, and spends most of her time with her grandchildren, telling them stories and cooking meals for them. In her free time she likes to listen to prayers by the monks on the radio.
Ten years ago, Rin developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Rin learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled there seeking treatment. On August 10th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Rin said, “My hope is that after surgery I can see well enough to do my sewing again. I want to make some clothes for my grandchildren.”
