Lucas is a 15 year old boy who comes from a large family in Tanaznia. He is currently in school, where his best subjects are math and Swahili. Outside of school, he enjoys playing with his friends.
When Lucas was a baby, he fell into an open fireplace, and sustained severe burns on his left leg. The burns were treated, but over the years he has developed contractures behind his knee, which make it difficult for him to run and to play with his friends.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Lucas receive treatment. On June 7th, surgeons at Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre will perform a skin graft procedure, which should enable Lucas to regain his ability to walk without difficulty. African Mission Healthcare Foundation is seeking $747 to fund this procedure.
Lucas says: “The skin that was limiting my walking was removed but my wound is not healing.”
