Kedress is a small businesswoman and the mother of five children. She was proud to share that two of her children are university students, while the rest have completed their studies. Kedress shared that she was unable to study past primary school after the loss of her father, as he was the one paying her school fees. Kedress currently operates a small eatery and farms to help make ends meet for her family. Her husband lost his job two years ago after schools were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Uganda, which has added strain on their finances.
For the past 23 years, Kedress has struggled with a head lipoma, a swelling she sustained after hitting her head on the edge of her bed while cleaning. The mass has gradually increased in size, and she is worried it is the cause of her frequent headaches. She needs to undergo a mass excision but cannot afford the procedure.
Kedress traveled to our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), for treatment. On December 21st, surgeons will remove the mass. AMH is requesting $137 to fund her surgery.
Kedress shared, “I would have gone for surgery earlier, but I did not have money. I pray that you help me undergo my surgery so that I can live a comfortable life like any other.”
