Samrin is a 75-year-old woman and a loving mother to two sons and two daughters and a grandmother to many grandchildren. Her husband died during the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia many years back. She currently lives with her granddaughter, who works as a garment worker. In her free time, Samarin enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio.
Five years ago, Samrin developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. As a result, she has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Samrin learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On October 25th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly again. CSC is requesting $229 to help fund Samrin’s procedure.
Samrin shared, “I hope after surgery my eye can see well again so I can take care of myself and join the ceremonies at the pagoda.”
