Mbambu is a 29-year-old wife and mother from Uganda. She and her husband are peasant farmers, and they have three children. One child attends primary school, and another is enrolled at a nursery school.
In 2010, Mbambu delivered her first baby by elective C-section. She delivered her second child in 2012, again by C-section. Then, in 2014, Mbambu had her third baby by C-section. Her husband paid for all three surgeries.
Mbambu visited our medical partner when she was pregnant with her fourth child. She was scheduled to undergo another elective C-section on December 1, 2016.
This time, her husband cannot afford to pay for the surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $280 in funding. This cost covers the C-section, as well as seven days in the hospital, surgical supplies, blood tests, and medicine.
Mbambu hopes to regain her strength and continue looking after her children, including the newest addition to the family.
