Mugisha is a 49-year-old pastor from Uganda and a father of four children between ages 11 and 18, he proudly shared that all of his children are in school. After completing his own primary education, he could not proceed due to his family’s financial struggles. In later years, he has became a pastor and survives on what his followers offer in support. Mugisha owns a three-room semi-permanent house and shared that he works hard in trying to raise his family and meet daily demands, in addition to school fees and medical fees.
For six months, Mugisha has had a right inguinal hernia. The hernia causes him pain and is swollen making it difficult for him to complete his daily tasks. He is not able to stand for long periods of time, but needs to be able to do so for his job. After a visit to a local hospital, surgery was recommended to treat his hernia. If not treated, he will be at risk of hernia strangulation and persistent pain.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH) is helping Mugisha to receive treatment. On May 14th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at AMH’s care center. Now, AMH is requesting $170 to fund Mugisha’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Mugisha shared, “I hope to be considered for treatment so that I may continue preaching … I plan to start a business as well to be able to sustain my own family.”
