Aom is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She has three sons, four daughters, and sixteen grandchildren. She likes to listen to monks pray on the radio.
One year ago, Aom developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him photophobia, blurred vision, and sensitivity to sunshine. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Aom learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On April 25, doctors will perform an extra-capsular cataract extraction and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
He says, “I want to go to the local pagoda, join in the ceremonies, and be able to recognize my grandchildren’s faces.”
