Meet Yung, a 66-year-old mother of five and grandmother of six from Cambodia. When she is not working, Yung likes to listen to old Khmer songs and watch her favorite Thai drama on TV.
“For three years, Yung’s vision has been blurred because of the cataracts in both of her eyes,” says our medical partner Children’s Surgical Centre. “Because of her loss of vision, she is unable to work on the rice farm or sew clothes to earn money to support her family,” they explain. “She also has difficulty cooking and looking after her family, which makes her unhappy.”
In order to restore her vision, Yung requires surgery to remove the cataracts, which costs $150. Surgery will restore her vision and prevent future blindness. Together we can ensure Yung is able to watch her favorite Thai dramas and care for the family she loves so much!
