Sophen is a 28-year-old farmer from Cambodia. He lives with his wife and three children in Rattanakiri province. All of his children are primary school students. When he is not working or taking care of his children, Sophen loves to play in intense volleyball games with his neighbors.
Two weeks ago, Sophen developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him partial blindness, severe pain, and tearing. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sophen learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for 8 hours by taxi to seek treatment. On June 25, doctors will perform an intra-capsular cataract extraction and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs your help to fund this $229 procedure.
Sophen shared “I hope my eye surgery is successful and that I can recover quickly, so that my crops can be well taken care of, and I can play more volleyball.”
His wife also shared, “I am worried that he will have blindness for a long time, so I hope this surgery quickly fixes his eye.”
