Two-year-old Luis is suffering from a rapid weight loss as a result of chronic malnutrition. He was born into a poor family with few essentials, such as clean water and healthy food. His mother does her best to provide for him, but due to “a very difficult home environment, with many mouths to feed and little employment,” his mother is unable to afford the treatment Luis needs to get healthy.
Luis is currently part of Wuqu’ Kawok’s nutrition program, but he is struggling. With “more intensive and tailored therapy,” Luis’ doctors believe he may have a chance to get “over the hump.”
For $250, we can fund Luis’s nutritional rehabilition and treatments for his chronic infections so he can live a healthy and normal life!

Luis received the nutritional rehabilitation he needed to gain weight.
Dr. Peter Rohloff, one of Luis’ doctors and the medical director at our partner Wuqu’ Kawok, had this to say about Luis’s progress:
“With the help of Watsi, we’ve provided medical oversight and food aid to Luis and his desperately poor family. It’s worked. He’s gained both height and weight, and his mother feels that he is more energetic than before. Gaining height and weight at this age is critical, because that’s a marker for good brain development.”
He added that Luis’ mother, Erika, thanks Watsi donors for reaching out and helping her through these tough economic times in Guatemala.
