Sopheak is a 40-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He lives in Kampong Thom province with his wife. His extended family lives nearby, and their relatives visit often. His wife recently started working in a nearby clothing factory, and Sopheak works long days in the rice fields. In his free time, he likes playing volleyball with his friends in the village and reading the news.
In October 2022, Sopheak crashed his motorbike while driving on a dark road with potholes. He went to a nearby clinic where doctors fixated a metal plate to repair a fracture in his left forearm. Now, the metalwork is causing pain, and he has limited function in his left arm. He is having difficulty working and doing everyday tasks.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On November 21st, Sopheak will undergo a fracture hardware removal procedure costing $304. This procedure will help him move his arm again.
Sopheak shared,”I hope I can return to work and not have any pain.”
