Chom is a chef from Cambodia. She has four sisters. She likes to watch Thai dramas and Khmer films in her free time.
Ten years ago, Chom developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurred vision, irritation, itchiness, clouded lens, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Chom learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On June 21, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope after surgery I can get back to work and support my family. I look forward to leading an independent life once again.”
