Saveth is a 53-year-old grandmother. She is married with two daughters and five grandchildren. She lives with her husband, and they both sell dried fish at the local market. During her free time, she enjoys listening to the news and music on the radio.
One year ago, Saveth developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia, blurry vision, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own.
On November 2nd, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Savith shared: “I hope I can see well enough to go outside, drive a motorcycle, and help my husband with our business.”

Saveth underwent cataract surgery for her right eye.
Saveth was happy that one of her relatives suggested Children’s Surgical Centre for a free eye consultation. After losing much of her vision in her right eye, it was difficult for her to do housework, and she felt ashamed she could not see well or be useful. After surgery, she rested at home for a few days and applied eye drops to aid in healing. Her eyesight is already better, and she looks forward to returning to work at the market and helping with her grandchildren at home. Her life will improve because she will be able to do the things she enjoys again.
Saveth’s husband shared: “My wife is happy she can see colors and recognize the faces of our family again. She has returned to work in the market with me, which will help to earn money for our family. Thank you to the staff and the people who donated.”
