Susan is a two-year-old from Uganda who has been suffering from severe malnutrition. Her mother is a single mother who works as a farm laborer in order to support her child.
As a result of her condition, Susan has been experiencing high fevers and extreme weakness. Susan’s mother tried to feed Susan local herbs as soon as her daughter started to grow ill, however Susan’s health has only deteriorated since. If her malnutrition is not properly treated and her mother is not educated about nutrition needs, Susan’s development may be affected.
Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $316 to fund Susan’s malnutrition treatment. The treatment is scheduled to be administered on May 16 and includes a ten-night hospital stay, medications, labs, and provision of nutrient-rich formulas. Susan’s mother hopes that she can provide a better life for Susan when she is cured. She wants to educate her daughter and prays that Susan becomes a nurse one day.
“I thank the donors for the support. My child’s health was worrying me but I couldn’t even afford transport for us. We had to walk for 18km from home to get to this hospital. May God bless all those who are helping us,” says Susan’s mother.
