Sarith is a 42-year-old grocer from Cambodia. He and his wife have been married for twenty years. They work together in a market where she sells vegetables. He does a lot of the cooking and house work, and he goes on a walk with his wife every day. In his free time, Sarith enjoys doing exercise and watching boxing matches.
In September 2017, Sarith was in a motor accident in which he suffered a fractured left tibia. He was taken to a local hospital, where doctors repaired the fracture by fixing a nail to the bone. His fracture is fully healed and he does not feel pain, but the nail that is present in his bone is still at risk of infection, and occasionally causes a numbness in his leg.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On July 7th, Sarith will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $230. Once the nail is removed, Sarith can be confident that he will have no future complications.
Sarith shared, “I hope that this hardware can be taken out easily and I can feel as strong as before my accident.”
