Mukamusoni is a farmer from Uganda. She is a widow and a mother to one daughter. Mukamusoni earns a living from small scale farming, growing food crops for home consumption and selling off the surplus to make a living.
Ten years ago, Mukamusoni began to experience troubling symptoms, including shortness of breath and headaches. She was diagnosed with a goitre, which is an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Mukamusoni receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on November 17th at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $252, and she and her family need help raising funds to pay for the cost of care.
Mukamusoni shared, “I expect to get some relief once my surgery is done, and hope to continue with farming after I have fully recovered.”
