Phal is a 52-year-old construction worker who is married with one son, two daughters, and three grandchildren. He lives with his wife, who is a housewife, and their daughter, who is a garment worker. Unfortunately, he is unable to work or be outside much due to his vision loss. With his free time, he likes to listen to the news on the radio and watch boxing on television.
One year ago, Phal developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision and sensitivity to light. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Phal learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On November 10th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Phal shared, “I hope after surgery I will be able to see everything well again. I need to return to work to support my family and cannot work because I cannot see well.”
