Sothany is a 23-year-old woman who lives with her mother and father in the Prey Veng province of Cambodia, where her parents are rice farmers. She has four brothers and four sisters. When Sothany was younger, her parents noticed that her spine was not straight; however, they could not afford proper healthcare for her. As she has grown up, she has had more noticeable changes, including uneven hips and shoulders, prominent ribs, and a shift of her waist and torso to the side. For the past few years, Sothany's disability has increasingly affected her breathing as her rib cage presses against the lungs, making it more difficult to breathe. Sothany is very self-conscious about her spinal deformity and limited mobility. As a result, she quit her job in a clothes factory and stays home with her mother. She makes homemade videos to sell lotions and creams on social media. Her parents first heard about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), in early 2020. However, they were unable to travel due to COVID pandemic travel restrictions. Today, Sothany's symptoms have greatly increased including muscle imbalance, pain, and difficulty breathing. Sothany and her parents traveled for two and a half hours to our medical partner to seek intervention for her disability. Sothany will undergo a posterior spinal fusion with implants at CSC's care center on August 1st. Sothany is contributing $100 to pay for her care, and CSC is requesting the remaining $1500 to fund the procedure. This will cover radiology, medications, surgery, and post-op physiotherapy care. Sothany said, "After surgery, I hope my spine will be straight. I want to walk with my friends and not have hard breathing, work to support myself, and not be ashamed of my back."

Edwin is a married man with two children aged five and two. He works on construction sites to provide for his family. His wife is a homemaker, and when he does not get work, he tills his small piece of land, where they mainly get their food. Edwin works hard so that his family may not lack for their basic needs. When he realized he had a hydrocele, he was so worried since he is the sole breadwinner in the family. He has no medical coverage, and now he is appealing for help so that he may be able to live more comfortably. Edwin, a joyful individual, visited our medical partner's care facility yesterday after having symptoms for over two weeks. Upon realizing the presence of swelling, he promptly sought assistance at a nearby health center. However, he was subsequently referred to a more comprehensive facility where an ultrasound was performed, leading to a diagnosis of Acquired Hydrocele. Edwin was advised that surgery was the most effective action to avert potential complications. Following his return home, the swelling has continued to increase, prompting him to seek care from our health partner, African Mission Healthcare. During the evaluation, it was determined that surgery was necessary to address his condition. Now, Edwin needs help raising $737 to fund this procedure. Edwin says, "I am very uncomfortable with my current situation and look forward to getting well. Please help me get treatment."

Chorvy is a 19-year-old student from Cambodia. She lives with her parents and her two younger siblings. Her father is a welder, and her mother is a clothing factory worker. Chorvy is taking courses in management at a local university, and when she isn't studying, she likes to read books. Several years ago Chorvy was in a motor vehicle accident, and sustained facial trauma. Since then, she has had headaches, nosebleeds, and nasal congestion on the left side of her nose. Medications purchased from the pharmacy do not alleviate her symptoms. As a student, she cannot afford to pay for a private clinic consultation, but she is finding it increasingly difficult to concentrate or study when she has headaches. She is afraid she might have to drop out of school if she is not able to keep up with her classes. A friend told her about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). Doctors at CSC's care center have diagnosed her with a left deviated septum, and have scheduled her for unilateral endoscopic sinus surgery on August 8th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. After she has recovered, Chorvy should be able to live symptom free. Now she needs your help to fund this $319 procedure. This sum will cover her surgery, medication, and hospital stay. Chorvy said: "I hope the surgery stops my headaches and it will be easy to breathe."
