Im is a 68-year-old farmer from Cambodia with three daughters, one son, and nine grandchildren altogether. When she cannot visit pagodas to participate in religious ceremonies, she relaxes and listens to the monks on the radio.
Two months ago, Im developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her tearing and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Im learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for for many hours seeking treatment. On May 18th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Her husband said, “She cannot see anything clearly right now, and she is having a lot of trouble moving around by herself. I hope that after surgery she can be independent, and come back to work with me in the field.”
