Nem is a 63-year-old rice farmer. He has two sons, three daughters, and three grandchildren. All of his children work as farmers too. Nem lives with his wife and enjoy listening to the news on the radio in his free time.
Three years ago, Nem developed a cataract in his right eye causing him blurry vision and sensitivity to light. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Nem learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 18th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Nem shared, “I hope after my surgery I can see clearly again so I can see my grandchildren’s faces well and help my children in the rice field.”
