Sokleang is a 34-year-old craftswoman from Cambodia. She has three children. She likes to prepare dessert for her family to enjoy and help with housework.
Ten years ago, Sokleang had a serious ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her right ear to perforate. For this reason, Sokleang experiences tinnitus, hearing loss, discharge, and itchiness. She cannot hear others clearly and is unable to concentrate at work.
Sokleang traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. She will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure and cover medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
Sokleang said, “I hope that my hearing will improve and that the infection will stop.”
