Yoeng is a 75-year-old retired farmer. She has one son, five daughters, and many grandchildren. Yoeng lives with her husband and their son who also works as a farmer. In her free time, she enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio.
One year ago, Yoeng developed a cataract in her right eye causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Yoeng learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On October 11th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Yoeng shared, “I hope I can see clearly again so I can see my grandchildren’s faces well and help to take care of them.”
