Mom is a 53-year-old rice and soy bean farmer from Cambodia. She is married and has one son, three daughters, and four grandchildren. All of her children are married. Mom lives with her husband and her grandchildren. In her free time, she likes to listen to the news on the radio and look after her grandchildren.
Three years ago, Mom developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia, itchiness, blurry vision, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Mom learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours with her husband seeking treatment. On November 26th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Mom shared, “It is important to my livelihood that my eyes can see well so I can earn money and take care of my family.”
