Vibol is a 53-year-old tuk tuk driver. He has been married for 25 years and he and his wife have nine children together. His wife is a farmer. Vibol’s oldest child was recently married, while the rest of his children are still at home or in school. He also recently became a grandfather, and loves to spend time taking care of his grandchild. In his free time, he meets with friends and watches boxing matches.
Two years ago, Vibol developed a small mass in his salivary gland. The mass has been growing in size ever since then. While Vibol has not felt pain, the mass has grown large and is interfering with his ability to eat and speak.
Vibol traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On January 6th, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Now, Vibol needs help to raise $231 to fund this procedure.
Vibol shared, “I am happy I got this opportunity for treatment. I thought that I would have to live with this mass, but I am excited for it to be gone now.”

Vibol underwent a procedure to remove a mass in his salivary gland.
Vibol’s operation went smoothly and the mass on his neck was removed. He spent one night in the hospital ward before returning home to his province. His neck was a little swollen following the procedure, and he had difficulty swallowing for a few days but he has been given pain medication to reduce inflammation. Now that he is healing, Vibol’s surgery has improved his ability to swallow and given him confidence that he doesn’t have a large lump on his neck. His wife is very happy that his surgery corrected his problem and he can resume looking for work.
He said, “I am glad that my face healed nice. I want to return to work and be able to support my family.”
