Alisa is two weeks old and the firstborn in her family. She lives with her parents- who are overjoyed to welcome her into the world- in Tanzania, where her father works at Asante Rabi Express, while her mother sells harvested crops at a local shop. Alisa's mother noticed that her left leg appeared different from her right leg. Concerned about this, she sought advice from the doctor at the hospital. The doctor diagnosed Alisa with clubfoot, a very treatable condition. Alisa’s treatment involves a series of casts that will be changed every few weeks. The casts are designed to gradually shift her foot into the correct position. After the casting, she is going to have tenotomy surgery on her left foot, a minor procedure that will release the Achilles tendon. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is seeking $935 to fund Alisa's clubfoot repair surgery, which is scheduled for April 21st at Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre. As a result of her treatment, Alisa will be able to wear shoes and walk without feeling any discomfort. Alisa’s mother said: “The warm welcome made us feel safe and gave us hope that our daughter will be okay.”

Janet is a 25-year-old teacher from Uganda. She recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education. Her husband is also a recent graduate teaching at a private secondary school. They married in July 2022 and have rented a two-room house. Janet is currently expecting her first child. Her doctors recommended that she deliver via a caesarean section because of a placentae abruptio condition. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Janet undergo a C-Section on May 11th. This procedure will cost $214, and Janet needs your support. Janet says, “I pray for a successful surgery. I hope to find a suitable teaching job after recovery.”

Srey Neang is a playful 4-year-old from Cambodia. She has one sister and lives with her grandma while her mother works a few hours away in a factory. A few of Srey Neang's favorite things include playing with toys, eating fried eggs with rice, and exploring her village with her grandma! Around two months ago, Srey Neang's grandma noticed that her nose was always red and bothering her. The doctors found a foreign object stuck deep inside her nose. Srey Neang is currently experiencing discomfort, redness, and difficulty breathing through her nose as a result. Her family brought her to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment; on March 13th, surgeons will remove the mass. Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), our medical partner, is requesting $273 to fund this procedure. Srey Neang's family contributed $50 to her care. Her grandma said: "I hope my granddaughter feels better and she can breathe easily again."
