Narin is a retired pastor. He has four sons, four daughters, and now 24 grandchildren. Narin lives with his wife and their youngest daughter who works at a microfinance organization. Narin shared that he likes to listen to the Christian radio station.
Three years ago, Narin developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him photophobia and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling, so is not able to go places on his own.
When Narin learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On February 25th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Narin says, “After surgery, I hope I can see better so I can read my books.”

Narin underwent eye surgery.
Narin struggled to keep his mind active in retirement but always enjoyed reading books until his cataract had become so large, he could no longer see well enough to read. He was hopeful that the operation would improve his eyesight, and he was thrilled when the bandages were removed the following day and he could already see faces much more clearly. He will rest for several days, and looks forward to reading to his grandchildren and being more independent around the village.
Narin’s wife said: “We are happy my husband will be able to see well again. He has always enjoyed reading his books and helping the grandchildren with homework, but was sad he could not see. Now he can do both, and he will feel more useful to our family. Thank you to the people who helped him have this operation, it makes him very happy.”
