Chroeb is a 35-year-old hospital cleaner who is married with one son. She likes to watch Thai movies, clean, and prepare patients’ rooms.
When she was 22 years old, Chroeb developed a goiter, which is the swelling of the thyroid gland, on the left side of her neck. Since then, the goiter has continued to grow, making it difficult for Chroeb to eat and drink.
Chroeb heard about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from a doctor in her province. She traveled for six hours with her husband to reach CSC for treatment.
On June 23, Chroeb will undergo mass removal surgery to remove the goiter and help Chroeb feel comfortable again. The $220 requested by CSC will cover the total cost of Chroeb’s procedure and care.

Chroeb’s treatment for her neck went well. Surgeons at CSC removed the mass and sent a biopsy specimen to pathology for further examination. Following the procedure, she was given pain medication and her sutures were removed 10 days later. Chroeb feels better than before and is able to move her neck more easily.
Chroeb says, “I am happy with the results. Now I can move my neck better without any pain.”
