Elizabeth is a 50-year-old mother of five from rural Uganda. She originally left Rwanda with her husband to live in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), but later moved to Uganda in hopes of owning her own land to grow crops and support their family. Sadly, Elizabeth’s husband passed away a decade ago, leaving her to care for all of her children. In her free time, she enjoys worshipping at church, weaving mats, and telling her children stories about the culture in Rwanda and DRC.
This single mother has a painful umbilical hernia. This abnormal protrusion is very painful and has caused her difficulty in eating and drinking. This has severely impacted her diet and has the potential to lead to severe complications.
Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $229 to help fund the repair of Elizabeth’s hernia. Her procedure is scheduled for May 5, 2017.
Elizabeth is optimistic and looks forward to going back and continuing her farming.
“I thank the donors that are contributing towards my surgery. I have lived with this hernia for two years, and it is very painful, I could not afford the cost to have it operated. May God bless the donors,” Elizabeth shares.
