Meet Sunil, a seven-year-old boy from Nepal. Sunil has three brothers and three sisters, and “enjoys playing kabbadi (a popular sport in Nepal) and hide-and-seek with his siblings,” says our medical partner, Possible. “Sunil lives with his parents who tend to the farm for a living. When the going gets tough, his father seasonally migrates to India to work as a laborer and makes ends meet.”
Sunil has fractures in both the bones in his right arm. He was playing with his brothers when he fell from his porch and broke his arm. Since then, it has been swelling and has caused Sunil a great deal of pain. “He has difficulty writing in school and he also cannot eat or dress up on his own,” Possible says.
For $224, we can fund surgery for Sunil that will heal the fractured bones. The cost of the treatment includes medicine, anesthetics, the surgery, as well as follow-up treatment from community health workers. After about a month, Sunil will be able to resume his daily activities like he did before.
Let’s fund this treatment and help Sunil get back to normal! “I want to go back home and play with my little brother once my arm heals,” Sunil tells us.
