Yorn is a 42-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. Yorn has been married for 17 years and together they have two sons and one daughter. Her husband is also a rice farmer. Yorn enjoys spending time with her children, watching TV, and cooking for the family.
In November 2017, Yorn was in an accident and fell to the ground, sustaining a closed fracture of her left forearm. She received Khmer traditional medicine treatments as well as a surgery that were unsuccessful at treating her fracture. She still experiences swelling, pain, and limited range of motion of her left forearm. The radius and ulna forearm bones are still nonunion.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On September 24th, Yorn will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $465. A plate and a bone graft surgery will help her forearm fracture finally heal and allow her to use her arm easily again.
Yorn says, “I hope after surgery I can use my arm with full function again and will not be in pain anymore. I have been unable to work for so long now and I am counting on this surgery to help me finally heal.”
