Mudul is a charming, five-year-old boy. He has two brothers, with whom he enjoys playing with toy cars, and listening to children’s music on his mother’s phone.
Mudul was born with polydactyly of his right foot. This means that Mudul was born with extra toes. While his condition isn’t painful, it is difficult for Mudul to walk; he can’t fit into shoes, and his brothers tease him about his extra toes.
Mudul’s mother took him to a local hospital, where they recommended that he meet with the specialty surgeons at our medical partner Children’s Surgical Centre. After the visit, surgery to remove Mudul’s extra digits was scheduled for September 15th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. Once the surgery is complete, Mudul will finally be able to wear shoes, and to walk more easily. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is seeking $299 to fund this procedure for Mudul.
His mother shared: “I hope that Mudul will feel comfortable and be able to wear shoes. I am worried other children will make fun of him.”

Mudul underwent foot surgery so he can grow up active.
Mudul was a brave young boy despite all the strange faces that surrounded him at the hospital. Specialty surgeons removed his extra toes, and he will keep weight off the incision site until his stitches are removed. His mother was trained how to keep his dressings clean and dry, and he will return soon to have his stitches removed. When his foot heals, Mudul will finally feel comfortable wearing closed-toe shoes, and is happy to show off his toes!
Mudul’s mother said: “We are grateful Mudul could have this surgery at a young age so that other children will not make fun of him. Thank you for helping to pay for this surgery so that he can grow to be a confident young boy.”
