This is Rotha, a 27-year-old farmer from Cambodia. Rotha has a big family—three sisters and three brothers. When she isn’t doing farmwork, Rotha enjoys listening to music on the radio and cleaning around her home.
Rotha has a muscle control disorder, known as spasticity, in her left hand. This condition can cause muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain in the affected area. As a result, Rotha developed a contracture, or shortened and immobilized muscle, in her left wrist.
Fortunately, Rotha was able to undergo treatment for this condition in October of 2016. Surgeons performed a wrist fusion and installed a plate to stabilize her wrist joint. While Rotha is happy with the post-operative appearance of her hand, she still experiences some pain. For this reason, her doctors have decided to remove the plate from her wrist, allowing Rotha to feel comfortable again.
Rotha is scheduled to receive care on January 12. For $411, we can sponsor Rotha’s operation, as well as the lab tests, physical therapy, and two-week hospital stay she will need to recover from the procedure. Let’s help this young woman enjoy a pain-free life.
