Natalia is a farmer and widower of two years. She has eight children all are married and work as small-scale farmers. Attending school was difficult for Natalia’s children due to lack of funding. Natalia is a small-scale farmer who grows food crops for a living and for her entire family. She typically does not have any extra crops to sell to support their family. They live in a semi-permanent house with three rooms.
One year ago, Natalia began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty in breathing. She was diagnosed with a goitre, an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland. Nyanjura needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), is helping Natalia receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on October 4th at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. AMHF is raising $252 to help fund this life altering surgery for Natalia.
Natalia shared, “I pray that I become supported by donors so that I can be relieved of this condition and thus able to continue with farming despite the limited energy I have now for work.”
