Yon is an 82-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has two children, four grandchildren, and enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio in her free time.
Two years ago, Yon developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision and irritation. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Yon learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 15, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope that after my surgery I am able to go to the pagoda and join the ceremonies and help to take care of my grandchildren.”
