Kyalimpa is a 46-year-old married father of six from Uganda. His children are not in school, since he is unable to afford their education. He cultivates food to sell on a small scale, and earns very little money. This income is not enough for all his family needs.
Kyalimpa developed a swelling in both sides of his groin region six months ago. The swelling and the pain are on and off. He has a lot of pain in the lower abdomen and while walking. Due to the pain, he is unable to lift heavy items or work in the gardens for a long time. Kyalimpa had not reported his condition to a hospital because of lack of money. If not treated, the inguinal hernia (part of the intestine protrudes through the inner groin) could become become stuck leading to damage to the intestine or even the stomach.
$249 will cover the costs of the surgery and care Kyalimpa needs. After surgery he hopes to continue working in his gardens and to be able to walk long distances because public transport from his village to town is difficult to get.
“I praise God who inspired the founder of Watsi. God bless everyone who will enable me have surgery,” Kyalimpa shared.
