Baryenkye is a 72-year-old woman living in Uganda with her husband. She and her husband are small scale farmers who grow millet, beans, maize, bananas, and other crops for home consumption and sale. The two have six grown children who are also farmers.
About 10 years ago, Baryenkye noticed a mass in her right breast. The mass started as a small and painless growth but has continued to increase in size. As the mass has grown, it has become more painful, affecting Baryenkye’s ability to work. If left untreated, the mass will continue to get larger, causing increased discomfort. Doctors have recommended that she undergo surgery to have the mass removed.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $187 to fund Baryenkye’s surgery. Baryenkye is excited to have have the procedure and so that she can get back to her family and her farm.
