Channy is a 31-year-old rice and vegetable farmer. She is married and has two sons and one daughter. Channy shared that she enjoys cooking for her family and watching TV at home in her free time.
In November 2021, Channy was in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture of her left tibia. As a result, it is difficult for her to walk, and she is in chronic pain. Channy heard about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from a family member who came for eye surgery. She was able to visit CSC for review, and, fortunately, the surgeons at CSC determined that they can help Channy finally heal.
On July 11th, she will undergo a fracture repair procedure that will help her walk easily again. CSC is requesting $483 to fund this surgery, and Channy was able to gather $100 to contribute to her care.
Channy says, “I am hoping my leg will be comfortable and I can walk again.”

Channy underwent fracture repair surgery so she can walk easily again.
Channy had a successful surgery to repair her non-union fracture, with a cast to keep her fractured bones stabilized and in alignment. This will ensure the bones remain in an optimal position during the healing process. She received antibiotics for a week and spent time with the physiotherapy team to learn how to walk and care for her surgical site and the cast. When the cast is removed, Channy will be able to walk unaided and return to work on her farm. This will help her to feed her children and make sure they have money for their school uniforms.
Channy said: “Thank you to the hospital staff and donors who helped me to have a good outcome. I am relieved my leg will heal and I can grow vegetables without help from others. It has been hard on my family because I could not walk and was in pain. Now we can return to normal life soon.”
