“I hope I can walk again after my surgery,” Pich shared.
Pich is a 64-year-old farmer from Cambodia, with two sons and one daughter. He enjoys staying at home and looking after his grandson.
In October 2015, Pich was in a car accident that caused his left femur, or thigh bone, to fracture. The pain he experiences prevents him from walking. Pich traveled three hours with his son to reach Children’s Surgical Center (CSC) for medical care.
CSC can treat Pich with an open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) procedure followed by physical therapy. The procedure will allow his fracture to heal and improve his gait.
Treatment will cost $405, which covers all surgical and medical expenses, six follow-ups, and five days of physical therapy.
Let’s help Pich walk again!

Pich underwent a life-changing fracture repair surgery.
Pich’s open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) surgery went very well. During the two-part procedure, doctors placed the bones in his thigh into their proper position and then inserted a rod so they remain in place as he heals. He will have two weeks of physiotherapy and a follow-up appointment in one month, but already his wound is healing and he is starting to walk normally again.
“I’m happy to go home and go back to work to support my family,” he said. His son, who accompanied him to the clinic, added, “I’m very happy my father can walk by himself now. Thank you to the staff at CSC for helping us.”
