27-year-old Vitou has had a hard year. About twelve months ago, he discovered a mass in his left femur, and it has been growing ever since. The lump now causes him steady pain. In addition to this physical discomfort, the mass takes a mental toll on Vitou because he does not know if it is cancerous.
This would be distressing for anyone, but is especially taxing for Vitou. As a teacher and a father, he needs as much energy as he can get at work and at home. However, Vitou does not have to continue to live in uncertainty and pain. One of Vitou’s neighbors in his Cambodian village told him about the subsidized medical care offered by our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). Vitou has now been approved for treatment there.
On March 1, surgeons at CSC will perform a biopsy of the lump in his leg, and a pathologist will then examine the extracted tissue. This will allow Vitou’s doctors to diagnose him and to determine the best course of treatment.
Although Vitou would normally not be able to afford this biopsy, we can fund the procedure for $224.
Early detection is key to the successful treatment of many of the conditions that could underlie Vitou’s lump. Let’s help him catch and remedy whatever is going on as soon as possible.
