Maribel is a 24-year-old woman who lives with her family in Guatemala’s rural highlands. She has two young children and sells food at the local market.
One year ago, Maribel began to have problems with her eyesight and was diagnosed with myopia, or nearsightedness. In order to fix her blurry vision and inability to see faraway objects, Maribel needs glasses.
Through our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, Maribel is scheduled to receive an eye evaluation and a pair of prescription lenses on June 8. The $552 requested by Wuqu’ Kawoq will cover the total cost of her treatment.
These glasses will help Maribel see clearly again, which will enable her to continue working and supporting her family. Maribel is grateful for all of the help she is receiving for her new glasses.
