Daw is a 63-year-old woman with a history of cervical cancer. Recently, an ultrasound revealed a mass in her uterus.
Daw married her late husband in her home town before moving away 35 years ago in search of better opportunities.
In 2011, Daw was diagnosed with cervical cancer, after experiencing bleeding in a sensitive area. With the support of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), she received four months of radiotherapy at the hospital. After the treatment, the bleeding stopped and the doctors told her that she was cured of her cancer. However, in March 2017, the bleeding came back again. She went to the local clinic and was referred to the hospital. Ultrasound results revealed an unclear picture of the mass in her uterus. A CT scan is needed to characterize the mass.
BCFM is asking for $414 to cover the costs of the scan. Your donation will help pay for the use of the scanning equipment, nurses, follow up appointments, and pre-surgery investigations.
“I love going to the monastery regularly to give alms to the monks, donate some money, and meditate,” says Daw. “However, because of my illness, I have not been to a monastery for more than two months.”
