Evalyne is a 42-year-old woman from Uganda. She and her husband practice small-scale farming to provide for their family. They have four children, all of whom are in school. Evalyne shared that she attended school through primary seven but was unable to continue due to the school fees. Evalyne has been experiencing a mass for the past twelve years that recently became very painful and began increasing in size. Her symptoms make it hard for her to sleep and are negatively impacting her quality of life. She traveled to our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), for treatment. On February 28th, surgeons at AMH's care center will remove the mass. AMH is requesting $188 to fund Evalyne's procedure. Evalyne said: “I look forward to receiving treatment for my condition so that I can live better and resume my farming.”

Deylove is a five month old girl from Haiti. She lives with her mom and dad and 2 older brothers. Deylove has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of her condition, Deylove has been experiencing Increasing head circumference. Without treatment, Deylove will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is requesting $897 to cover the cost of surgery for Deylove at Hospital Bernard Mevs that will treat her hydrocephalus. This is the only site in the country where this care is currently available and the procedure is scheduled to take place on March 2nd. This critical treatment will drain the excess fluid from Deylove's brain to reduce intracranial pressure and greatly improve her quality of life. With proper treatment, Deylove will hopefully develop into a strong, healthy young girl. Her family is relieved and happy that this surgery will give their little girl a chance of survival.

Mitora is a 38-year-old father who is married with three daughters all in school. Mitora is a grocery seller and his wife is a homemaker. In his free time, Mitora enjoys fishing with friends. In October 2020, Mitora was in a traffic accident and fractured his left forearm. At a private clinic, Mitora had an open reduction internal fixation with a plate and screw implanted in his arm. Now, the fracture has healed and Mitora needs the metal removed. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On January 3rd, Mitora will undergo a hardware removal procedure, and CSC is helping him raise $304 to cover the cost. Removal will help Mitora increase his strength and flexion of the affected arm. Mitora shared, "After this operation, I hope my forearm will not have pain. I want to earn money to support my family and keep my children in school."
