Heng is a widowed, 63-year-old retired rice farmer from Kandal province in Cambodia. She has two daughters and six grandchildren. Sadly, her husband passed away 20 years ago due to stomach cancer. Today, Heng lives with her youngest daughter, who is a rice farmer.
A few years ago, Heng developed a cataract in her left eye, which causes her to experience photophobia, tearing, and blurry vision. She feels isolated, as her impaired vision makes her reluctant to go out on her own and engage in social activities.
Heng sought help from our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre. On May 4th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After she has recovered, Heng will be able to see clearly again. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure.
Heng shared: “I hope after surgery I can see better. I hope to go outside on my own, take my grandchildren to school, and help my daughter.”
