Musiimenta is a 24-year-old teacher from Uganda. She is a single mother to two children and was previously married, but had a difficult relationship with her husband and eventually left him. Her first child lives with her husband, and her second child lives with her.
Musiimenta stays with her father and mother, both of whom are small scale farmers. She used to earn a living as a third grade teacher, but has been jobless since the onset of COVID-19. To earn some income, she provides home tutoring to students.
One year ago, Musiimenta had an epigastric hernia. This hernia causes her weakness and pain, and significantly affects her ability to work.
Fortunately, on November 24th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $230 to fund Musiimenta’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably and confidently.
Musiimenta shared, “I am really glad to have learned about this program and pray that I am considered for surgery under their support. I will continue with tutoring until schools resume.”
