Euy is a 45-year-old rice farmer with one daughter who is a student, and they live with Euy’s mother. One year ago, Euy developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia and blurry vision. Euy has difficulty seeing things clearly, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own.
When Euy learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On February 14th doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in Euy’s right eye. CSC is helping Euy raise $229 to fund cataract surgery so that she can see clearly.
Euy shared, “In the future, I want to go outside easily and plant rice again.”

Euy underwent cataract surgery and is grateful to be seeing so much better.
Euy had difficulty working outside due to the effects of her cataract. This was hard for her because she is the sole breadwinner for her family. She pays for the school fees and expenses for her daughter and faces difficulty when farming harvests are not productive. Fortunately, her eye surgery was successful, and she has returned home to her province. She is delighted to see the rice plants individually instead of a gray-green blur and looks forward to a productive harvest this year. Her improved vision will help feed her family, care for her mother and assure that her daughter stays in school.
Euy’s mother said: “I am happy my daughter can see well again. It will be easier for her to manage the farm with help from our neighbors. Thank you to the people who helped her to have this surgery so she can see well again.”
