Sovan is a 60-year-old vegetable seller who is married with three sons, three daughters, and six grandchildren. She likes to join ceremonies at the pagoda and watch Thai dramas on TV.
One year ago, Sovan developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision and burning. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, working, and going anywhere outside.
When Sovan learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for one hour seeking treatment. On December 19, doctors performed a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Sovan will be able to see clearly again. Now, she needs help to fund this $292 procedure.
“I hope that I can see everything more clearly,” she says, “so that I can continue my work as a seller and do any other type of work easily. I will also be able to go anywhere by myself without needing to bother others to take care of me.”
