Chandaravortey is a girl from Cambodia. She was born with a congenital muskoskeletal disorder on her left foot known as foot equinus, which limits the upward motion of the ankle.
She will undergo tendon Achilles lengthening surgery to elongate the tendons behind the ankle. This surgery will improve Chandaravortey’s posture, eliminate discomfort, and allow her to bend her ankle and walk normally. Surgery is scheduled for July 11 and will cost $497.
She likes to read books, watch television, and go for walks with her family in her free time. Chandaravortey’s favorite subject in school is Khmer literature, and she hopes to become a doctor when she grows up.
Her mother says, “I hope that after my daughter’s operation, she will be able to walk normally and won’t suffer from any pain or discomfort from her condition.”
