Hellen is a bright and persistent teenager from Zambia. She has lived with painful tumors on her shoulder and leg for ten years. When her mother first noticed the growths she believed that they would heal on their own and disappear. This did not occur, and eventually the tumors became so painful that Hellen could not lift her arm or leg. Activities that used to be second nature became difficult or impossible.
Fortunately, Hellen is part of a kind and generous family. Family members stepped in and funded the trip to Beit CURE Hospital, where Hellen will receive surgery to remove the tumors.
Hellen’s surgery cost $1,000. This surgery will allow her to regain motion of her arm and leg. Hellen will no longer be plagued by pain and will be able to return to life as an active teenager!
