Ath is a 12-year-old fifth grade student from Cambodia who has one younger sister. She likes drawing pictures and watching TV in her free time.
Since she was a baby, Ath has had chronic ear infections caused by inflammation of the middle ear. This condition is known as otitis media, and can cause pain, discharge and hearing loss.
She experiences recurrent ear discharge, hearing loss, and ear pain on the right ear. She is unhappy that is difficult for her to hear at school. Ath’s right eardrum has perforated as a result of the inflammation.
Hoping for treatment, Ath traveled two hours by motorcycle with her mom to reach Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). With $399, surgeons will be able to repair her perforated eardrum and treat the infection.
“The discharge will stop and over time her hearing can improve,” CSC says. Let’s help this young student so she can succeed in school.
